Amicus were awarded this project in early 2020 but the start was delayed due to the Covid virus and lockdown. Once works got underway in the summer we engaged with the client and the community to deliver the first phase of this unique and ambitious project.
Following very poor weather in the Winter of 2019 a section of the old existing quayside timber retaining structure was washed away risking the loss of access to the Harwich and Dovercourt Sailing Club.
Amicus were appointed to fabricate and install the new access ramps and stairs for access to their new corporate function and mooring facility on the Thames adjacent to Waterloo Bridge.
These works were a continuation of HHA’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the pier and involved installing new deck support timbers.
This third pontoon was completed using the same principles as the first two although there were added challenges for this pontoon because it supports the access gangway and mooring facility for boat re-fuelling.
Amicus were approached by FM Conway to advise on a repair proposal for their jetty on the River Thames in Erith which is where they offload aggregate boats for their asphalt batching plant.
This is the second of three pontoons to be refurbished at Ha’Penny Pier. The first pontoon was successfully completed for Easter 2018. This second pontoon was completed using the same principles as the first.
The pontoons for Woods River Cruises new mooring facility alongside Victoria Embankment were fabricated in Southampton Docks by SMS
Woods River Cruises appointed Amicus to undertake concrete works at their new mooring facility along the Victoria Embankment at Waterloo Bridge. The location provided many challenges.
This project was completed over two phases. Phase 1 was Oct to Dec 2016 and Phase 2 Oct to Dec 2017. This was planned to minimise disruption to pier users. Ha’Penny Pier is one of only two completely timber pier structures left in the UK and is approximately 160 years old. Much of the timber structure dates back to the original build.
