For this project we achieved accreditation to RISQS to undertake works adjacent to the railway. This project was an enormous challenge as the site was approximately 1 mile from the nearest road and was within an ancient woodland allocated SSSI status.
This small scheme required the works to be sensitively planned as it was undertaken within the SSSI area at Landguard Point in Felixstowe. We also had a watching brief with a local archaeologist during the excavation work.
As part of the upgrade of facilities at the Radar Tower on Landguard Point a new fibre optic supply was required which necessitated a new BT duct to be installed between Carr Road and Landguard Fort with associated pits to be built and laid in accordance with BT standard details.
This was another project undertaken for KKB which required a quick mobilisation by the Amicus team.
The DF (Direction Finder) Tower on Landguard Point had been decommissioned for many years so was surplus to requirements.
This project had to be completed during the school summer holidays and to a strict maximum budget. Amicus worked with the client and design team to develop value engineering savings to come in under their maximum spend.
This project was planned over a 12 month period to ensure minimal disruption to HHA’s VHF radio shipping service and follows our successful upgrade of the main radar facility at Landguard Point in 2017.
