Landguard Point 2022 Works

These works for HHA were entirely developed and proposed by Amicus and approved by HHA over approx. 10 months including third party approvals. The works were undertaken within a SSSI and a heavy interface with the general public. The works involved the following:-

  • Upgrade of the old concrete road (laid during WW2) to the wardens bungalow and radar tower to future proof the access to the radar tower for large items of plant such as cranes and access platforms.
  • Construction of a new section of concrete road to eliminate a section of the old road with tight bends and return this old section to the landscape.
  • New concrete slabs at the wardens bungalow and garage for access and parking.
  • New concrete slabs and crane platform at the radar tower including grasscrete paving to minimise the impact of the concrete on the landscape.
  • New security fencing to a scheduled monument adjacent to the radar tower to prevent unauthorised access and vandalism.
  • Install a new internal steel platform in the radar tower for new IT equipment to be located nearer to the base.
  • New plastic matting for a desire line footpath to prevent continued erosion of the grassland.
  • Painting to the full exterior of the Radar Tower.
  • Security grills to scheduled monuments throughout the SSSI area.
