Ha’Penny Pier Pontoon Refurbishment – Phase 1, Harwich

HHA contracted Amicus to investigate options for the refurbishment of the three steel pontoons at Ha’Penny Pier in Harwich.

The final solution was accepted by the client and a target cost form of contract was awarded to Amicus to deliver one refurbished pontoon each year. The works involve the removal of lean mix ballast in the pontoon compartments to reduce the weight and to expose the internal steelwork, lift out and transport of the pontoon to a refurbishment facility, strip off rotten steelwork, shot blast, steelwork repairs and new deck fabrications, painting and new decking and deck furniture.

The pontoon then returned to the water and re-ballasted before installing back at Ha’Penny Pier.
