Erith Jetty Repair, River Thames

Amicus were approached by FM Conway to advise on a repair proposal for their jetty on the River Thames in Erith which is where they offload aggregate boats for their asphalt batching plant.

We were required to ensure full operation of the jetty for boat deliveries at all times.

The old softwood baulk timbers were removed one at a time and replaced with hardwood timbers. The works also involved the removal and re-locating of steel protection barriers and walkway support steels.

The first phase was completed ahead of time and enabled the jetty to return to its full operational length allowing the aggregate boats to be offloaded more efficiently using Conway’s 80t long reach excavator.

The second phase involved the replacement of old baulk timbers at the connection with the access jetty at the most critical point for plant and operations. This phase was also completed ahead of time allowing FM Conway to operate the jetty facility more efficiently and safely.
